MDP President Dr Munavvar has reportedly said that the government’s “giving-in” (to the people) as a result of the work carried out by MDP and reform minded people. Miadhu also reported that Dr Munavvar said, the government will be pressured (to make concessions to the people) as MDP continues to unfold its policies, and that it would bring smiles to (oppressed) people. He is also reported to have said that there will be further reforms.

It is yet to be seen how the promised scheme of free textbooks and paying of exam fees by the government will be implemented when it actually happens.

The media has not touched on the equity issues related to announcements by the government, such as the school fees paid by students who belong mainly to the disadvantaged sections of society; those who attend private schools and the fee-paying preprimary schools.
