There are moments in life when the heart becomes tired from worrying.
🔸️ Worrying about money.
🔸️ Worrying about the future.
🔸️ Worrying about whether we will have enough.
Yet the Quran gently reminds us: “And there is no creature on earth except that upon Allah is its provision.” ~ Surah Hud (11:6)
Sometimes we reduce rizq to salary, cash, or wealth. But Allah’s provision is far wider than that.
🌹 A loving spouse is rizq.
🌹 A child’s laughter is rizq.
🌹 Peaceful sleep is rizq.
🌹 Good health is rizq.
🌹 A sincere friend is rizq.
🌹 Time with parents is rizq.
🌹 Safety in our homes is rizq.
🌹 A heart that still turns back to Allah is rizq.
Even the ability to smile after hardship is rizq.
Imam Navaid Aziz beautifully reflected on this reality in a talk last month. He shared how Allah is Ar-Razzaq – The Constant Provider – the One who gives continuously and abundantly, even to those who forget Him. SubhanAllah!
A mother bird feeds her baby directly from her own mouth. The baby exerts almost no effort. And through that image, we are reminded that some forms of provision arrive purely through Allah’s mercy.
And perhaps one of the most beautiful reminders was this:
🌼 Love itself is rizq.
🌼 Companionship is rizq.
🌼 Mercy is rizq.
🌼 People who stand beside us in darkness are rizq.
◽️ Not everyone becomes wealthy.
◽️ Not everyone receives the same tests.
◽️ But Allah provides each soul differently.
The story of Maryam عليها السلام reminds us of this deeply. When Prophet Zakariyya عليه السلام saw fruits out of season beside her, she replied:
“It is from Allah. Indeed, Allah provides for whom He wills without account.” ~ Surah Aal-Imran (3:37)
The miracle did not merely amaze him. It inspired hope in him.
Sometimes, seeing Allah’s mercy upon others should strengthen our trust that He can open doors for us too.
But trust in Allah is not passive.
The Prophet ﷺ taught us: “If you were to rely upon Allah with true reliance, He would provide for you as He provides for the birds. They leave hungry in the morning and return full in the evening.”
🐤 The birds still fly.
🐤 They still strive.
🐤 But their hearts are attached to Allah.
And perhaps this should inspire gratitude inside us. How many forms of rizq have we already received without noticing?
🤲 The message you needed at the right moment. 🤲 The person who forgave you. 🤲 The quiet evening breeze after a stressful day 🤲 The cup of tea shared with family. 🤲 The strength to keep going after heartbreak.
Gratitude is not only saying “Alhamdhulillahi” with the tongue. It is seeing with the heart.
It is pausing long enough to recognise that Allah has already surrounded us with countless forms of mercy.
Today, maybe take a moment and ask yourself: what forms of rizq has Allah already placed in my life that I have forgotten to thank Him for?
May Allah increase our rizq – in wealth, in love, in peace, in sincerity, in good company, and in hearts that remain grateful no matter what life brings.
