Overheard:
A friend of the boastful storyteller and he went to a resort to celebrate the new year. They were at the New Year Party where there were a number of Italian and Russian “chicks”. He said that his friend ordered the most expensive vodka and was later on the dance floor.
Apparently, there was this sixteen year old Russian girl who was the centre of attention on the floor. She was with her father, who was sitting a little far away. When someone chuckled, he said that the girl was full-grown and gorgeous enough; so it was ok though she is a minor.
He said that his friend was a freak. When he went onto the floor the girl came to him and started dancing with him. He had a cigarette in one hand so she couldn’t hold both his hands. Finally, she got “pissed off” and went, according the storyteller.
The most shocking part of it is what the storyteller said next: “I told my friend why he didnt just start kissing her and take her to the beach. It would have been ok even with the father. After all, it is the new year!”
I guess Dr. Majeed was right in stopping the DJs in Male’ for simple minds who saw the joy of abuse in celebrating the New Year.

I agree that DJs should be allowed. We have to also make this a secular state and allow all religions too. How can the government force us to be the religion of Islam when we dont believe it?

in our society islamic scholars have turned out to be like vending machines where u can have any taste of fatwa(religious verdict) u wish according to the coin u put in.

DJ’s been around for a decade , sometimes at kudabandos , nasandhura and local parties , so there’s nothing wrong in disco …infact a very healthy thing to burn couple of calories enjoying the music…so i have not known a single case of child abuse ina disco in maldives , but dozen cases of child abbuse took place from tution teachers …..so Dr.majeed talk sense .. u did won a resort and now sold to Athamaa Ibrahim DIDI ,when that resort opens how many dance sessions with vodka will take place … and Majeed should take responsibility ….for facilitation that to happen at N.Maavelaavaru..by the way Is hussain rasheed a Sheik i would rather call him a CD Sheik , besides he’s a real danger to scociety as he has abused a child!!! please ask him.

conjuresoul: you wud think a bunch of grown ups would be more sensible to not attend such places..i cant see how ppl like u find drinking, uncontrollable hormones, going nuts and not remembering anything the morning after as “fun”..yeah go n do what u want and ignore the moral implications..the logic of ppl these days..

i dont see any reason for the DJ to be cancelled all are grown ups n who ever will be going would be above 18 so its up to them to decide where they want to end up, in beach or where ever they want y should others bother or give a damn. if the DJs are cancelled they will find another way so y dont people let others do what they want this maldives sucks some times i mean most of the times

I believe that if Anni gives us the benefit of good governance and leads us well (which he seems to have done well in this case, by allowing an Islamic Scholar to decide on religious matters); I don’t care whether he sits at the bottom of hell in the Hereafter because he drank Sula Shiraz. How many of us do, anyways! Period
