Mohamed Muizzu has advised all Muslim voters in Maldives to do the Ishthikharah Prayer before the Voting Day… He writes:
After deciding on your choice of presidential candidate (whoever it is), who you think would be most capable of safeguarding and promoting the Islamic identity of the people and practically delivering as much as possible of what they have promised on their manifestos, I sincerely advise to pray the Isthikharah Prayer regarding that decision.

is voting in the presidential elections synonymous with the act of slaughtering pigs?

Shihab, I feel sorry for my earlier comments for misjudging you.

When people write things about a faith in a negative way I thought they will be able to digest the comments people make. And after all I was just trying to give some advice which may be of benefit to both of us. Because we as brothers must advice each other. This is what I thought. I did not mean to create any ill feelings.

i cannot see how a simple prayer invitation can pull so much hate… this just shows how narrow-minded we are, on all sides of the spectrum… religions do not preach hatred, humans do: they can be theists or atheists. it is a human weakness. we are good at preaching tolerance, not practising it ourselves.

See what I mean. I foresee atheist terorists soon enough.

scaremongering about hellfire and resurrection. it will be advisable if these theists or rather terorists reserve these notions to scare their children instead of running around in public screaming hellfire through their vile beards.

You may find the difference between atheists and theists on the day of resurrection, but by then it would be far far too late. Whether you believe this or not is all together I think. Because there are people who deny manifest truth.

Again I’m not been personal but I must make it clear that we make wrong judgments quite often for which we have to feel sorry later. That’s why we have to seek Allah’s help in making us make the right decision. My humble request is not to mock the religion. It is something very serious because we are directing it to the Almighty God without knowing it. Wish you well.

Shihab. This is to make it clear that I have nothing personal against you. But at the same time you have to realize that religion is very important for us. Without religion there is nothing. So when people attack religion by making false allegations we must express our dissatisfaction at least. And if your intentions are good, well and good I have nothing against you. As you said Allah knows our intentions.

some atheists may consider theists stupid, and some theists may consider atheists stupid. In such cases it becomes impossible to find a common paradigm to objectively compare the two notions. lets just leave it at that. The smarter fellows from both catagories generally take a pacifist position and leave each other in peace. It is troubling that the new age atheists of the dawkinesque variety take a fundametalist confrontational approach. I suspect that they pose a similar, if not more severe danger to our society as do religious extremists. It seems, to me atleast, that the more hateful blogs in mvblogs project such hate from an atheist position. This is alarming. I hope that we are not heading to a confrontation of extremists.

@anon2&3: I suggest that you not read between the lines (influenced by your own personal prejudices against the person)… Allah knows our intentions; and humans can only err. I have always thought it best not to comment on comments, but I felt strongly to make this clarification. I have always spoken the truth from my heart; here and everywhere and have been ridiculed quite often for that. We all want freedom of consciounse; but if that agrees with ours. PERIOD

Maldives had its own identity and culture, with its own islamic values, until this regime started its arabization campaign. This is not against your advice for prayer. But to highlight that perhaps you are from the generation of the spoonfed?

Do you think you are sane. If you do not believe religion, then say so. This prayer is advised by the Holy Prophet and is to be performed before deciding on important things. Do you know better or your Creator know better. Mr. Shihab, again I must remind you that you are making a grave mistake by allowing others to make fun of Islam. I pray to Allah to guide you all. Also you have written the name of the prayer wrong. It is Istikharah.

What was your intention quoting this statement? To show how stupid it is? To show that Muizzu isnt within the circle of sane, such as you are in?
