Jazeera Daily has reported:
The father of an eleven year old girl has been summoned to the Police Post of Himandhoo, to question about the alleged marriage of the girl. The father had refused to take the girl in for questioning as she is a minor, according to her mother.
The mother also told Jazeera that the allegation was false and baseless. And she has said that the child has been frightened by these allegations.
The island chief who confirmed the incident has said that people have alleged that the marriage has taken place. And that the father has denied the allegations.
According to the island chief, a fourteen year old has been married on the island about a month ago. And that the people concerned has agreed to the marriage, and that they had done it on their own. Police have declined comment, according to Jazeera Daily. The mother of the child have removed her from school saying that they did not like the way she was taught in school.
The question is:
Should the parents of a child be allowed to refuse the child, her right to an education, if they don’t agree with the school curriculum and how it is delivered?

ismail…are trying to say we should get rid of it?i think what we need is reforming it.there is a lot of good in islam.we shouldn’t be fighting against any religion.religions do help us, what has to be done is.. turn it in to something positive and beneficial instead of something destructive and barbaric.

Because their “prophet” Mohammed “married” a 6 year old, Islam has not been able to get rid of this primitive, evil and disgusting practice.The problem is the ideology of Islam. Until this is recognized, we will not be able to solve this porblem.

a big problem,but nothing new anymore.recently a student in madeenaa- nasru (who belongs to the ‘moderates’ of the wahhabi community which they call salafeem, and is a leader among them) have tried to marry off his 12 yrs old to another maldivian studying there…but somehow they failed at that saudi shariah court (the child and the mother started crying there or something)…and there are several other incidents…and if some one marries a 12 year old girl…she gets pregnant …still this child molester is given all of the fathers rights and is punished for ‘dheenee ebbai vanthakan nagaalun’ only..and not for child abuse.. this has happened…because a marriage which is legal according to shariah cannot be deemed as illegal…or as rape or child abuse.it does not fall under zinaa .so it is legal.but the he is punished under some other law.
