Valorie Burton shared a powerful truth: “Resilience is not bouncing back – it’s bouncing forward.”
Teams trust leaders who don’t crumble under pressure and don’t pretend the pressure isn’t there. Resilience isn’t toughness – it’s steadiness. It’s showing up with hope even when the day is heavy.
During VibeShift, many found comfort in knowing that leaders also struggled – but kept moving with grace. That transparency built trust, faster than any scripted message.
Resilient leaders make teams feel safe to try, fail, learn, and rise again. I saw this first hand at VARU by Atmosphere when I was on the resort – during the pre-opening, when we were hit by Covid just after the opening, and riding through it all.
It was a clearly the mindset of the leadership – one that was not only focused, but caring and willing to treat the team with dignity and respect, in the most trying of times, that made the difference. Whenever the MD checked in with us in the resort, it was always about the team first, then the things.
How can resilience be made visible in my leadership this week?
