People don’t share the truth until they feel safe. And without their truth, nothing moves.
In a VibeShift session, a participant once said,
“I kept quiet… I wasn’t sure if it was safe to speak.” When space became gentler, her ideas flowed, and shaped the whole session.
Safety is invisible, but its absence is loud. When people feel safe, they speak early. When they fear judgment, they speak last – or not at all.
One of my leadership mentors carried that energy with him – always. When he walked into a meeting it instantly feels lighter, calmer, and more spacious. And he often tops it gently by saying, “Is there an uncomfortable truth?” And people would speak up knowing what they have to say will be valued.
What can make someone feel safer to speak in your presence?
