Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, “The merciful are shown mercy by The Most Merciful.” Yet many of us show mercy to everyone but ourselves. We rush to care for others, forgetting that kindness begins in our own hearts.

Self-compassion is not arrogance or weakness. It’s humility in practice: accepting that you, too, are a soul in need of gentleness. When we scold ourselves for mistakes but comfort others for theirs, something in our balance breaks.

The Prophet ﷺ never belittled those who struggled. He offered presence, not pressure. His kindness wasn’t selective: it extended to himself in moments of fatigue and reflection. Following his way means treating your own heart with that same softness.

Today, speak to yourself as you would to someone you love. Forgive your stumbles. Honour your small steps. You can’t pour from an empty cup, and you can’t love fully if you deny yourself mercy.

Self-kindness is how divine compassion flows through you: inward first, then outward. Let your heart rest in that mercy tonight.
