Today I had a conversation with a young person about his career. He has been struggling with his current role for sometime, where he felt stuck. After a few sessions he decided to move on, and now he has found a new role one step up in his career ladder.

A career is not meant to be a cage. It is a path: and every path moves forward. Too often, we stay put out of habit, fear, or comfort. We convince ourselves that the next step can wait. But the truth is: staying too long in one place can quietly dim our light.

Moving on is not about running away. It is about honouring your growth. When you feel that a role no longer stretches you, when the energy no longer uplifts you, that is a gentle signal from within: it’s time.

Each move you make is a chance to grow new skills, to meet new people, to widen your heart. Careers are built not by clinging, but by walking: with courage, with learning, and with trust in Allah’s plan.

So ask yourself: Am I standing still, or moving on with purpose?
